Kymm Hughes was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Topeka in 1990. She attended Kansas University, Fullerton College, and Pasadena Art Center College of Design in her twenties, and recently went back to school at Washburn University in Topeka, KS. There she was introduced to the art and techniques of fusing glass, where she did an independent study for two years and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
After graduating from Washburn, Kymm chose to follow her passion and work with fused glass as a medium and has also taught art lessons and conducted summer art camps in Topeka. She has been able to use fused glass in a variety of uses. She makes large and small decorative pieces such as platters, dishes, and bowls. She also has an extensive line of unique fused glass jewelry and wonderful glass tiles used for back splashes and draw pulls. Kymm works out of her Topeka home studio.
