Lampworking
or flame working has been a quest for me after being present at a marble
demonstration at Moon Marble i Bonner Springs, Kansas by owner Bruce Breslow. My
lovely wife was encouraging me to "get a hobby," and now that hobby has become a
passion. Reading everything within arms reach, studying details, color
combinations, and making many trips to Moon Marble to hopefully pick up some
pointers has been the path well worn. After four years and hundreds of marbles
the enjoyment of creating a unique floral inversion or implosion is both
satisfying and fun.
The details and color combinations are where I focus, spending a lot of preparation looking over botanical guides and looking at the details of flowers in our landscaping at home. Mother Nature is such an accomplished artist, to imitate with an appreciation for details is an effort to compliment and praise.
Each marble is unique as each will blossom differently as the glass flows in the flame.
